Adventures with Grimly: A Fun & Safe Road Trip with My French Bulldog

If you’ve ever traveled with a French Bulldog, you know it’s an adventure full of snorts, zoomies, and the occasional stubborn refusal to walk another step. When I decided to take my Frenchie, Grimly, on a weekend road trip, I knew I had to prepare for anything—because with Frenchies, anything can happen!

Packing for the Pawfect Trip

Before we hit the road, I packed all of Grimly’s essentials:
✅ A comfy travel bed https://amzn.to/4b8bMla
✅ His favorite toy (because leaving Mr. Squeaky behind would be a disaster)
✅ Plenty of water and a collapsible bowl https://amzn.to/4hGxqzk
✅ Cooling vest and wipes (because Frenchies overheat easily) https://amzn.to/3EHSuXy
✅ A doggy seatbelt to keep him safe https://amzn.to/4k9DFx7

Grimly, of course, supervised the packing process—mostly by sitting inside the suitcase.

Hitting the Road—With Snorts and Wiggles

French Bulldogs are notorious for their dramatic sighs and expressive faces, and Grimly did NOT disappoint. We weren’t five minutes into the drive before he gave me the ultimate side-eye for not rolling the windows down fast enough.

Tip: Always keep the AC on and never let your Frenchie stick their head out the window—it’s cute but risky!

After a quick stop for a puppuccino (a road trip essential, obviously), Grimly was living his best life—snoring happily in the backseat like the royalty he believes he is.

Pit Stops & Play Breaks

Long drives can be tough on French Bulldogs, so we made sure to stop every 1-2 hours. I let Grimly stretch his little legs, sniff all the new smells, and, of course, pose for some Instagram-worthy photos.

Tip: Frenchies aren’t built for endurance—keep walks short and bring extra water to prevent overheating.

Arriving at Our Destination: Frenchie Heaven

We finally arrived at our pet-friendly cabin, and Grimly immediately claimed the entire couch as his throne. Exploring new places can be exciting for dogs, so I let him get comfortable before heading out for a short hike (emphasis on short—because let’s be real, Frenchies are more “loungers” than “hikers”).

Final Thoughts: Would Grimly Approve Another Trip?

Absolutely. As long as it includes:
🐾 Unlimited belly rubs
🐾 Snack breaks every hour
🐾 A cozy bed (preferably mine)

Traveling with a Frenchie requires planning, but the joy of experiencing new places together makes it 100% worth it. Have you taken a trip with your French Bulldog? Share your funniest travel stories in the comment!
